On Saturday 9th March, St Andrew’s Church, Ipswich host an ‘Open Doors’ event through the day, to hear of how Christians are persecuted for their faith today, and how as their ‘neighbours’ we in the UK can support them.
Keynote speaker for the event, John, has been serving the persecuted church through Open Doors for more than 16 years. He has travelled to some of the most hostile countries in the world where serving Jesus could cost you your life. John has presented training and seminars to pastors and young people of the persecuted church in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. He has a very special love for the church and people of North Korea and will focus on Jesus’ words in Matthew 16:18; ‘I will build my church, and all the gates of hell will not overcome’.
Very often the first thing persecuted Christians ask for is prayer. There will be time to spend praying for our persecuted family, and finding out how you can continue to pray for them with others in your area.
There will be a focus on ‘advocacy’. Come find out what advocacy is and why it is so important. There will also be a great way to respond so bring your creativity!
Finally, learn more about the history and people behind Open Doors. See how your support is strengthening the persecuted church and enabling them to play their part in the Great Commission.
