Reading the Bible together in Bury St Edmunds

Does the world’s best-selling book ever, have something to say to us today?

Well, they certainly think so at West Road Church where they intend to prove the Bible can be read, cover to cover, in just 72 hours!

To prove it, church members of all ages and reading abilities have taken up the challenge since Monday May 13th inviting anyone and everyone to come along and listen.

Time slots run Monday to Saturday 9.30 – 10.30am, 1 to 2 pm and 7 to 8pm, until June 8th.

Not relevant for the 21st century? You’ll be amazed! Written 2,000 years ago, thus unable to resonant with today’s turbulent world? You might be surprised, shocked even, to realise just how relevant the Bible is for people today in Bury St Edmunds.

Senior Pastor David Oakley says, “This 72 hour public Bible reading initiative is a great way to let the book speak for itself as there will be no preaching or teaching. We have just created some time and space for listening so it’s free and everyone is most welcome to come to any of the time slots for as long as they like”.

“We run other programmes and activities at the church to try and answer questions, to discuss any puzzling parts of the Bible or just to take time out to think about some of the bigger questions of life”.
