Kick Start – A new free service for churches

    Darren Bullen, centre manager of Christians Against Poverty, Bury St Edmunds, has been in touch to tell us about a new initiative which aims to help those who have been badly impacted by Covid-19.

    Darren says;

    ” None of us could have predicted the impact of a global pandemic on our everyday lives, but we serve a steadfast God who remains certain when nothing else feels as though it is.

    As His Church, we can truly make a difference in our communities right now.

    That’s why I’m excited to let you know about Kick Start from Christians Against Poverty (CAP), a tool that equips churches to help people get their lives moving again following the crisis.

    Pulling together nine bitesize sessions, Kick Start opens up conversations and gives practical tips on job searching, money management, habits that harm and the emotional challenges of worry and loss. Tips on how to introduce faith into the conversations are also included.

    How does it work?

    Since the start of lockdown, we’ve all seen the huge opportunity that online community provides to the Church. People who would never normally connect, have tried out a church service for the first time from the comfort of their own home. Those who can’t go out easily have been able to attend groups to talk and pray together.

    Kick Start makes the most of this new chapter in the UK church’s experience. All the sessions are designed to be run online (or face to face, once that’s possible again). We provide short videos that you can share to get conversation sparked. Then it’s over to you to chat through the issues and practical tips raised.

    You don’t need to use all the sessions, just pick the ones most relevant to your community right now.

    Our hope is that you’ll come away not only having helped people through some tough challenges, but also having built a lasting supportive community.

    The Church has already led the way in local communities in responding to the needs around them over the last few months, and we hope these new resources from CAP will help you continue to do that in a practical and Christ-centred way.

    Kick Start is free, downloadable and easy to use.

    Simply sign up here to access and you’re ready to get going. “

    Thanks, Darren!
