The Salvation Army’s Priory Centre in Ipswich is appealing for local residents to step forward and support their community by volunteering in a range of rewarding roles.

The centre is currently recruiting volunteers for several positions including relief cook, toddlers’ group assistant, charity shop assistant, office administrator and relief cleaner. With flexible hours and a commitment of two to four hours per week, the opportunities are designed to fit around busy schedules while making a meaningful difference.
Shamaila Waddle, centre manager, said volunteers play a vital role in sustaining the centre’s services.
She said: “Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. They bring compassion, energy, and a real sense of community to The Priory Centre. Without them, we simply couldn’t provide the level of support that so many people rely on.”
The Priory Centre offers a welcoming and supportive environment, with training opportunities available to help volunteers build confidence and develop new skills.
Shamaila added: “Volunteering isn’t just about giving your time – it’s about becoming part of a community. We see people grow in confidence, make new friendships and gain valuable experience. It’s incredibly rewarding.”
